Yash’s Unexpected Turn in Ramayana: From Ravana Contender to Producer

Yash, renowned for his role in KGF, transitions into a producer for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, stepping back from an on-screen role to shape the epic's narrative off-camera.

In an unexpected turn of events within the Indian cinema landscape, KGF star Yash, originally speculated to portray Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, has transitioned into a different yet crucial role off-screen. According to reports, Yash has now joined the project as a producer, stepping away from the limelight to contribute from behind the scenes.

This decision came after prolonged speculation regarding Yash’s involvement in the film, with many fans anticipating his portrayal of the iconic antagonist. However, a source revealed to Zoom, “Yash resisted the offer to play Ravana for a long time. He agreed finally only as a producer. Rather than accept a fee (of around ₹80 crore), he agreed to come on board as a producer.”

Ramayana, under Tiwari’s direction, boasts a stellar cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The film also expects contributions from other notable actors like Bobby Deol, rumored to play Kumbhkaran, and Vijay Sethupathi, speculated to portray Vibhishan. Adding to the ensemble are Lara Dutta and Sheeba Chaddha, taking on the roles of Kaikeyi and Manthara respectively.

With shooting already underway, the project has been shrouded in anticipation and excitement. Yet, recent leaks of photos and videos from the grand sets have led to a strict no-phone policy, aiming to preserve the surprise and integrity of the film’s visual storytelling.

Ranbir Kapoor is also deep in preparation for his role, undergoing a rigorous training regimen that includes weight lifting, swimming, cycling, and hiking, demonstrating his commitment to embodying the character of Lord Ram fully.

While Yash steps back from the spotlight in Ramayana, his cinematic journey continues to flourish with the upcoming Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. This film, set against the drug mafia backdrop, promises to showcase Yash’s versatility and dedication to storytelling, further cementing his status as a powerhouse in Indian cinema.

As Ramayana is poised for a Diwali 2025 release, its blend of mythological epic and star power continues to build anticipation among audiences nationwide, promising an unforgettable cinematic experience.
