Sathyajith Accuses Shaan Rahman of Copyright Infringement Over ‘Freak Penne’

In a shocking turn of events, Sathyajith, the esteemed singer, lyricist, and composer, has raised allegations of copyright infringement against the acclaimed singer-composer, Shaan Rahman. The song in contention is the chartbuster ‘Freak Penne’ from the 2019 hit romantic-comedy, ‘Oru Adaar Love’, helmed by director Omar Lulu.

Sathyajith took to the popular social platform, Facebook, to unveil his grievances. He voiced his discontent, alleging that Shaan Rahman released ‘Freak Penne’, crediting himself as the sole composer and conveniently sidelining Sathyajith. In a bid to substantiate his claims, Sathyajith shared an old video of him belting out the tune at a college function, which predates the film’s release.

In his Facebook post, he elaborated, “Many believe that Shaan Rahman single-handedly crafted the music for ‘Freak Penne’, but that’s far from reality. The track graced screens in 2018 with ‘Oru Adaar Love’, but its true origin traces back to me as its creator, lyricist, and vocalist, a good four years before the film’s debut. Despite this, the film’s music director audaciously announced himself as the song’s composer.”

He further commented on the challenges he faced, saying, “I was unjustly branded a fraud by the film’s team, facing accusations of deceitfully claiming song rights. My plea to all is to approach the cinematic and musical domain with eyes wide open. Don’t take claims at face value and always champion your rights.”
