Hansika’s MY3 on Hotstar: A Passable Drama with Glimmers of Promise

Hotstar Presents Hansika’s MY3: A Dive into the World of Humanoids

Releasing just a few days ago on September 15, 2023, the web series “Hansika’s MY3” has caught the attention of many, not just for its star-studded cast but also for its unique premise. Drawing inspiration from the Korean show “I Am Not A Robot,” the series introduces us to Adithya Chandrasekhar, a lonely business tycoon, and his peculiar bond with a humanoid named MY3.

The Tale in a Nutshell

Adithya, played by the talented Mugen Rao, has a reason for his seclusion, a reason that’s well portrayed. His life takes an interesting turn when he crosses paths with Eliyas, a scientist, and MY3, a robot designed after Eliyas’s former lover, Mythri. When MY3 faces a malfunction, Mythri, depicted by Hansika, steps in, leading to a whirlwind of comedic and dramatic sequences.

The Highs and Lows

What works for the series are its principal characters. Mugen Rao brings depth, portraying the nuances of Adithya’s loneliness, while Hansika shines in dual roles, balancing robotic precision and human emotions. The series also boasts moments of genuine comedy, with Shanthnu delivering a commendable performance as the scientist.

However, where “MY3” stumbles is in its pacing. With a storyline that could be condensed, the show feels stretched, especially towards the latter half. Some subplots seem disjointed and unnecessary, diluting the main narrative.

Technically, while Ganesh’s background music adds layers, there’s room for improvement in the editing department to tighten the narrative and pacing. The director, Rajesh M, brings forth a mixed bag. While there are instances of emotional depth and humor, the overall execution could be more gripping.

Final Thoughts

In essence, “Hansika’s MY3” is a mixed platter. While it offers compelling performances and an intriguing premise, it’s held back by its elongated episodes and uneven pacing. For those patient enough to navigate through its runtime, it promises moments of laughter, emotion, and drama.
