Kichcha Sudeep, celebrated South Indian actor-producer, has initiated legal action, filing a defamation lawsuit against producer M N Kumar. Kumar recently alleged that Sudeep had accepted a token advance for a film project but then avoided him. Reacting to these claims, Sudeep has confidently stated that the truth will surface soon and maintained that the court is the rightful place for such disputes to be resolved.
In light of the accusations, Sudeep dispatched a legal notice to Kumar, claiming defamation. He is demanding damages amounting to Rs 10 crore and an unconditional public apology for the allegations. In the notice, the actor-producer emphasized that Kumar’s claims are both false and unauthorized, dismissing the alleged payment as a product of Kumar’s imagination. Furthermore, producer Rehman echoed similar sentiments against Sudeep, highlighting unsettled payments post the success of the movie ‘Huccha’.
Reiterating his longstanding reputation, Sudeep mentioned that he wouldn’t have sustained his career in the film industry if he were in the habit of faltering on commitments. He urged patience, asking stakeholders and fans to await the court’s judgment on the matter. In a show of dissent, M N Kumar organized a protest at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce shortly after, arguing that the dispute could have been resolved without legal intervention.
